I have a home down in the south, so every church I have ever been in in this state has had a/c; I would never have ever thought that any church could exist without a/c, in fact.
I was proven wrong, but.
I went on a little pilgrimage to a southern town that I have constantly wanted to visit, and that is where I discovered that there are lots of churches that do not have a/c. I was a bit taken aback to learn that they simply never wanted to spend the money to put in some a/c. I am almost certain that it is not even legal to build a building in my neck of the woods without having plans for a/c included, and anyway, the matriarch of an seasoned family friend passed on, and I made the trip up north to attend his funeral. I arrived, wearing a long-sleeved blouse, which was a mistake. I had no method that there would be no a/c in the church. Now mind you, this was not some tiny little church in some backwater site. It was a good big church that has been in that same spot in the 1740s! There are various truly prominent families who belong to this church, also, and it is surprising to myself and others that the pastors never recommended funds from the parishioners so they could install a/c; They do have a gas furnace because it is in the northeast, so they need heaters. Let me just tell you, it was not fun going to a funeral in a crowded church in the Summer without a/c!
