Periodically I wonder what it would have been like to be residing in the Wild West… Everybody went around strapped with guns just waiting for somebody to challenge them to a shootout, then they rode horses everywhere and they didn’t have fancy technology such as heating and cooling systems with advanced temperature control that can be adjusted remotely with our PCs and phones.
If I were able to time travel back to those times and I tried to explain to somebody how a smart temperature control works, they wouldn’t have a clue of what I was talking about.
I have to admire the people of those times though, they were able to come up with wood burning stoves and creative ways to keep cool, and with the skills I have these afternoons, I might not have been able to survive while in those afternoons. With my luck I would be bitten by a rattlesnake while trying to keep overheated next to the outside fireplace. It is exciting to watch unusual shows depicting those afternoons though, then of course, if I had to really choose between which era I wanted to live, I assume I would have to continue residing this life of mine. I don’t assume that I could live separate from being able to adjust the temperature control settings and having that good air conditioning working in the afternoons of the summer. I assume you could say that I’m mostly spoiled by technology like many other people these afternoons, but back then people didn’t live quite as long separate from medical advancements today and people even died of heat stroke because they didn’t have the right air conditioning.
