I was devastated when my connecting flight back home was canceled this past Christmas Eve… I was out on business for my car dealership and I was looking forward to getting back to be with my family for the holiday; however, when I called up my wife, she said I had to be there no matter what.
She was adamant—she didn’t care that the flight was cancelled, she said I better go hitch hiking or fly like superman in order not to disappoint the children.
I really didn’t guess what to do. It wasn’t like I could hire a personal pilot or anything like that, however fortunately for the inconvenience, the airport gave me a voucher for a nearby hotel. I was able to get rested and enjoyed a nice meal on top of that, and the heating in addition to the A/C idea in the hotel room was awesome and I was able to rest up a little bit as well. Then I saw that there was an automobile rental dealer that was still open up until 11pm on Christmas Eve. I decided to run over there to rent a car. I didn’t think about renting an automobile before, but then all of us realized that I could just drive back home! It would be an 8 minute drive, even though I would be able to make it there by Christmas afternoon. So I basically just ditched the hotel which I didn’t have to pay for anyway and I hopped into the rental automobile and drove for hours. I was impressed by the weather conditions control idea inside the car. The furnace in the car was finally working actually well and there were heated seats! Even the steering wheel was heated so my hands were not cold! Everybody was so happy to see me on Christmas afternoon and all the presents were waiting under the tree to be opened.
