It was an authentic heating experience

My boyfriend and I are southerners through and through. For the holidays we decided that a white Christmas was best. The two of us rented a cabin in the woods up north during December. We wanted an authentic northern Christmas. The cabin looked chic and very cute. I loved the wood walls and rustic fireplace. When we arrived my boyfriend and I immediately started worrying. Snow always looked magical and fun. In reality it was wet and very cold. The windchill was so horrible that exposed skin hurt. The authentic heater that came with the cabin was horrible too. My boyfriend had to chop wood and burn it in order to create heating in the cabin. Basically we had soot, ash and very little heat with that type of system. The whole trip consisted around heating. My boyfriend was gathering wood, I was drying it and we burned it as fast as possible. Luckily the cabin did come with a few space heaters or I think we would have frozen to death. I was so happy when the trip was over. When we arrived home I turned on our home heating system and enjoyed actually being warm. I hated the smell of the fire and the look of the snow by the time the trip was over. Who cares about a White Christmas. Next year I am suggesting that my boyfriend and I take a beach vacation. I would much rather sit in the sunshine with a book and worry about the amount of cooling in my hotel room.
