There was supposed to be a safety switch.

When our apartment house got a new manager, nearly everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

If we had a problem in our apartment, it took weeks to get anyone to help you out with the old manager.

The new manager handled everything within a day or two of your call. If it was something that could cause a health issue, they were there within an hour. I really liked the new management company. When I went down to the basement to do my laundry, I knew there was a problem. I looked around and I could see that there was a dark hue to the walls that wasn’t normally there. It wasn’t until my feet squished on the carpeting that I knew there was a leak somewhere. I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and called the management office. I was still working on my laundry when the superintendent showed up. He must have realized the problem immediately. He knew exactly where to go as he opened a hatch in the ceiling and crawled through. I heard him grumbling about a safety switch and the air conditioning unit. I asked him if he had the problem solved when he finally crawled out. He said the safety switch which should have stopped the water from the air conditioning from overflowing, wasn’t working. The air conditioning was going to be out for a while until he could get a new overflow switch for the air conditioning unit. I thanked him for the information and passed it on to the other tenants.
