I live in an area with really extreme year-round weather… The Winter time season respectfully lasts for more than half the year and brings an annual snow accumulation of fifteen feet. The temperature remains below chilly and can dip down to twenty below zero. The wind chill is positively brutal, and it becomes dangerous to spend any time exposed to the elements. The fall and Springtime seasons are normally cold with high winds and lots of rain, we get awful storms that leave us without power and cause widespread flooding, and although our summers are brief, the temperature frequently soars into the high eighties with excessive humidity. Because of the demands of the weather, there’s really little opportunity to go without either heating or cooling; I rarely get to open the windows and bring in some outside air. I need to keep everything sealed up as narrow as possible to minimize the workload of the oil furnace and air conditioner and eliminate energy waste. With no influx of fresh air, contaminants get trapped inside the house, however dust, pet dander, pollen, harmful bacteria and all sorts of allergens get circulated and breathed in by our family. There’s problems over high humidity in the summer, overly dry air in the Winter time and degraded air quality. I’ve resolved these concerns with the upgrade of a ventilation system. The ventilator brings in a steady supply of fresh air to replace the stale air. It helps to keep the loft cleaner, maintain more stable humidity and optimizes air quality.
