Sometimes I do not care for our job, mostly when it comes to holidays and pulling emergency jobs! My manager pays pretty well, and pays entirely well for working overtime and off-minutes shifts; When the phone rings and the boss is on the line, I know he will be offering myself and others top dollar for our time… That is the area of the job I love, the area I don’t love so much is when he calls at an inopportune moment, like on a holiday.
Last halloween I missed the get-together our partner and I were hosting, because I got called out for an emergency repair job… You never know when a major Heating, Ventilation, and A/C method emergency will happen, sometimes it comes at the most inconvenient of times, and it was right in the middle of the Halloween get-together when I got the call for a furnace removal and replacement, something that couldn’t wait until the next day.
I easily couldn’t say no to the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C dealership owner, since it was a buddy of his who needed these repairs, also, this particular furnace job was going to end up paying myself and others triple time, which would basically give myself and others 3 days worth of pay in a few short minutes. I left our partner to handle the get-together, and to keep having fun, while I got our hands covered in grease removing an ancient, and filthy, furnace from a dusty basement. It was really not the Halloween evening I had planned, however the labor schedule of an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tech is not always the 1 they wished they had.
