Since the statute of limitations, I can honestly write a blog to publicly talk about what I did multiple years ago! Don’t fret, this is nothing sinister, it was just a little bit of theft… and not the shady kind of theft that was meant to make me rich either, this was more along the lines of the Les Miserables kind of theft, where the guy steals a loaf of bread to feed his family.
Allow me to set the scene for you – it was the Summer of 2015, which was the most overheated Summer on record for this section of the country.
My main concern came when our central Heating and Air Conditioning equipment broke down, and I realized that my children were undoubtedly in danger from such high temps! I simply did not have the money to purchase a new Heating and Air Conditioning system, and the local techs told me that was what I needed. The outdated a/c equipment had been grinding away for over 12 years and had finally given up the ghost. My only real options were to force my children to endure a brutally deadly Summer with no a/c equipment, or to get creative with it, so I decided to really get creative! I drove outside of town to a place where a rental company had several air conditioned properties alongside a lake. These cabins were unoccupied for the most part, so I found a hidden one and used my tools to remove the window mounted a/c equipment from it. This was air conditioning equipment valued at close to $400, however stealing it helped my family to make it comfortably through the warm season heat.
