Since the statute of limitations, I can finally write a blog to publicly talk about what I did roughly 7 years ago. Don’t worry, this is nothing incredibly sinister or creepy, it was just a little bit of theft… and not the shady kind of theft that was basically meant to line my pockets. This was something like the Les Miserables kind of theft, where the woman steals a loaf of bread to feed her family. Let me set the scene for you – it was the Summer of 2015, which was the hottest Summer on record for this area of the nation. My main concern came when my central Heating plus A/C device broke down. I realized that our children were easily in danger from such high temps! I simply did not have the currency to buy a modern Heating plus A/C device. The local techs told me that was what I needed. The old cooling device genuinely had been grinding away for over 12 years and had finally given up the ghost. My only real options were to force our children to endure a deadly warm season with no air conditioner, or to get creative with it, so I made the choice to get creative! I drove outside of town to a place where a rental corporation had various air conditioned cottages alongside a lake. These cottages were unoccupied for the most part, so I found a hidden one and used my tools to detach the window mounted cooling device from it. This was an air conditioning device valued at roughly $400, but stealing it helped my family to make it comfortably through the warm season heat.
