I rented a car when I was on a supplier trip last week, however the whole car smelled mostly like smoke, and my friends call me The Bloodhound, since I can aroma smoke from a mile away, i couldn’t suppose that the rental car agency tried to make me feel that the car I rented had not been smoked in before me, then the entire car reeked of smoke.

It was even worse when I turned on the heating or the a/c in the car.

The aroma of smoke just blew around and around throughout the car and it made me suppose like I was going to throw up or close to it. I truly hate the aroma of smoke and when you’re trapped inside a car, the aroma is even more terrible. I did my best riding with the windows rolled down, however the weather outside had been cooling off a superb deal and the temperatures were actually cold. I really needed to run the heating in the car, however the more I dialed the control component up, the worse the aroma got. I don’t suppose how people can sit to smoke inside a car anyway. There’s just something about the aroma of smoke that makes the indoor air quality in a car feel downright terrible. It’s almost like you can touch the smell or something! I eventually called the rental car supplier and told them that I was unable to run the heating idea in the car because of the smoke smell in the car. They assured me that there had been no smoking in that vehicle, and they didn’t want to supply me a new car. I made my way down to the office and made the employee come and breathe in the aroma in the car while the heating was running and then he believed me!

My parents have lost a lot of their mobility over the past few years. Just a decade ago they were both going to the gym three days a week and taking short walks around their neighborhood on a daily basis. As the frequency of their heavy exercise dwindled, so did their general mobility around their house. They at one point still had the two story house that my siblings and I grew up in, but it got to the point where they couldn’t handle going up and down stairs multiple times a day. That is when they sold their house and bought a small condominium with better disability access. There were no stairs to climb or hurdles to get around from their car to the front door. Since I live so close to their new condo, I try to stop by and help them out as often as I possibly can outside of my busy work schedule. Anything that involves heavy lifting or getting on a ladder is reserved for me whenever I am at their place. One of the chores that I try to do as often as possible is swapping out their air conditioner filter. They both have asthma and benefit from the cleanest possible indoor air that our limited resources can muster. If I change the filter enough, it drastically reduces the amount of dust flowing through my parents’ indoor air. It is small things like this that I can do for my parents each month that give me total peace of mind. The thought of one of them climbing on that ladder to reach their air handler is enough to make my head spin.

I have just started really taking off as a personal trainer. I have a few clients and things are looking good. One problem I can see that is going to need to be solved is that as I get more business, I am going to need to turn a room at my house into a viable place to do sessions sometimes. It is not going to be possible to do sessions at a client’s house or gym or at a local gym. People also want to be able to go to a new place sometimes too to workout. So I need to make some improvements in my house. I think I am going to choose a room and add zoned HVAC to it, so that I can have the best cooling technology for it. I do not think anybody would be impressed if I put the gym in the garage or the basement. So I am going to reinforce the floors with padding, add the zoned HVAC, and see how that goes. I think personal training will pay for the improvements soon. I am going to add a few fans for sure also. It is a standalone house, So I will be able to play music loudly if the client wants. And music is great for working. I think that will be good enough for now. In the future I am going to look into adding a ductless mini split if I need more cooling air in my gym room. I will play that last one by ear as things develop.

With everything that has been going on recently there has been a lot of talk about how some work is being called essential and some is being called non essential.

The difference is huge.

Non essential work means that people will be able to stay home and they can file for unemployment. Essential workers will still be going to work. As it gets hotter I realize that I need to get some maintenance done on my HVAC system. I do not know if HVAC professionals will be classed as essential. I can see how when it gets really hot they will really be called essential. But when that happens, everybody will be calling up the HVAC companies. That is why I figured that I better call an HVAC repairman to the house now, before they are called unessential workers but also before they are changed to being called essential during a heatwave. Better to be prepared and do things early. I figure I should get them to look over my HVAC system, my thermostat, my boiler and even my furnace while they are at it. This way I will know that everything works so that is one less thing I have to worry about. I think there are going to be many other things that I am going to be worrying about soon, and some of those things I have not even thought of yet. By doing this I will have peace of mind on at least one thing. It is not a small thing either. Having hot water and making sure I am cool during the summer is a big deal, especially in a crisis.

 

I Am Going To Try and Take Care of At least One Thing Early

I would love to attend an auction next weekend that is going to have a lot of used office supplies

We really need to buy some new office supplies for our steadily growing HVAC business. I knew things would take off really quickly, even if my husband wasn’t sure. He didn’t want to quit working at the heating company to start our own business. I knew that we had enough customers to get started, and my husband is very smart and capable. I knew we would be just fine. We started the HVAC business with very little money in our pockets, so we used the supplies from home to fill the office. I had an old Canon printer and copier that sat in my office when I was a receptionist. We used the computer that sat in the middle of our living room. We went without a computer at home for 6 weeks before we decided to buy one strictly for the HVAC business. It’s been four months since we started taking clients. Now things are steadily growing and it’s time to buy some office supplies that are specifically made for these commercial jobs. My little printer can’t handle shooting out thousands of pages every day, and it is costing me a fortune in ink. I would love to attend an auction next weekend that is going to have a lot of used office supplies. An old paper supply company went out of business and they are going to auction everything from inside of the building. I know they will have a few machines that we could use in our busy office. My husband is stingy with money, but I’m ready to lead our HVAC business into the future.

Jimmy is one of my best friends. We met three years ago when I moved to the coast. I was shy and reserved and a nerd from the Midwest. Jimmy welcomed me and even gave me a place to stay. Jimmy and I lived together for almost a year before I found a place of my own. Luckily, I found a pretty good job working for a commercial heating company. I work in the heating company warehouse. It’s a pretty good gig. I’ve learned how to operate and drive a forklift, and I can fix a ton of heating problems. One day I’m going to take my certification test so I can work as a heating technician. Right now, I am happy working in the warehouse. I have a few friends that work as heating technicians, and they have to be available for emergency calls every other weekend. I’m not prepared to give up any weekends right now, even if it means making a lot more money. Jimmy called me a few days ago, because he had some trouble with the heat pump at his house. Jimmy was hoping that I could figure out the problem, so he wouldn’t have to call an expensive heating company. I offered to come over and take a look. All of my work in the heating company warehouse paid off, because I quickly realized that a specific part needed to be replaced. They even carry the part at the hardware store, so we didn’t have to order anything. When I was finished with the repair, Jimmy rewarded me with a big bag of stinky marijuana. That is a great trade if you ask me.

For the past 15 years I’ve been getting up early every morning, getting clean, getting dressed, and getting in the car… Then I spend the next hour or 2 resting in angry traffic simply trying to get 10 miles down the road to our office. This is the life of somebody who commutes to work every morning. For every 1 of these years, I have dreamed of having the option to work from home, and i regularly thought it would be so incredible to wake up in the morning, put on pajamas, and stand down at our kindle with a cup of coffee. It sounded really amazing to keep our work at house where I’m in full control of our environment and our schedule, however since this whole viral outcut has taken hold, I have been working from home, and it hasn’t been nearly as good as I thought. It turns out, you aren’t in full control of your environment when you have teenagers house from school. The children are driving me insane. They complain endlessly, often about the indoor air temperature control and air quality, but even though it’s actually nice outside and the temperature is great, they are not cheerful with having the windows open for natural ventilation. The teenagers have been bickering over the heating and cooling plan for a week, and one of them is regularly sizzling and 1 of them is regularly cold. They are flipping in the a/c and oil furnace settings back and forth all morning long. In between abusing the indoor air handling devices, they’re generally yelling about something. I’ve never gotten less work done or been more worried for our central Heating and A/C.
