Putting together our off campus apartment

Back then people basically made wooden furniture because there were no stores to get things like that

My initial year away at school I actually was living in the freshman dorm, and it was not the most pleasant experience, from top to bottom. As soon as the rules allowed it I moved off campus. At that university, freshmen had to live on campus. It was genuinely the rule, so I just suffered through it. There were all kinds of smelly people in that dorm, and hardly any of us had any sense of decorum. People drank and partied in the hallways, it was super scandalous. Sophomore year I actually had a couple of roommates, and we decided to put together our new locale with classic elegance and everything handmade furniture! For the lot of us, going antiquing is about as fun a weekend as we could possibly have, so the lot of us would drive for hours looking for the coolest seasoned wooden furniture around. If you look not just in antique stores but flea markets and junk shops you can honestly locate wooden furniture far superior to anything you can find in an official box store. What I sincerely adore the most about seasoned wooden furniture is how it gives me a sense of complete connection to local history and culture… Maybe you just see a regular set of wooden chairs, each a little different, although I see the farmhand who actually created them, and I understand what his life must have been like. Back then people basically made wooden furniture because there were no stores to get things like that. If you didn’t want to kneel on the ground then you had to make yourself a chair! They are sturdy, strong, and in their own way, beautiful. This was appropriate for the classic elegance of myself and my roommates.
