It’s that time of year again… I realize that it’s only the start of February, however that’s pre-Spring for us. I live far enough south that my associate and I are easily already seeing pollen starting to cover the cars. It’s not full on yet however it has started; then as soon as I have to disinfect any pollen off the car, it’s time for myself and others to call the heating and A/C supplier! And within six weeks, my associate and I can count on the afternoon time uneven temperatures to remain in the 78’s, but that’s when the chorus of heat pumps crank up in our town. While my associate and I tend to leave the thermostat alone until my associate and I are always topping 90, the heat pump needs to be ready. So once I see the pollen, I call the heating and A/C supplier to set up the air conditioning tune up. This is also the first step when it comes to being proactive about saving on air conditioning costs. While my associate and I have a winter to die for, the summer time thumps us. If you don’t have some sort of plan and preparation for the summer heat and humidity, you’ll pay. I mean that quite literally. If you do not prepare the apartment respectfully, stop direct sunlight heating and have some thermostat control, it gets costly. I believe people pay the equivalent of a new automobile payment just for the cooling comfort they prefer inside their house. To me, that is a big waste of money, and getting the air conditioning tuned up ensures that the heat pump is running at its most efficient; from there, I spent a couple weekends making sure that the weather stripping is in nice shape. And all gaps around the exterior of our apartment are sealed. Then it’s just pull the shades, keep the thermostat around 78 for the summer time and we’re nice to go.
