In our area, the group of us have lots of downtown celebrations.
One of the things that I really enjoy doing most is the Summer parade! The Summer parade generally happens in July sometime.
Of course, it is not the same as the Fourth of July parade. Honestly, if they ever start being politically correct so much that they call the 4th of July parade a Summer parade, I will most definitely boycott it. Anyway I digress. This year I decided to go to the Summer parade but I genuinely did not intend to stay long. It is seriously overheated here in the summer, and as I get older I find it quite strenuous to put up with the intense heat and humidity. Anyway, this certain year, I found myself staying for the entire celebration. The reason is simple. The Summer parade sponsor was a Heating and A/C appliance corporation! The heating and cooling company decided to take out air conditioning appliances like you would not believe! They had portable cooling systems set up in tents all over the locale. The parade route was basically full of air conditioning appliances. All these AC units were similar to a blessing from heaven… Not only that, I discovered that when their float came rolling by, the hair on the young ladies was blowing in the wind. I was thinking that it was just because they were moving, however of course, that was not the case. They had portable cooling appliances on their float! The young people who were fortunate enough to ride on the heating and cooling float were fairly fortunate. I think it is amazing that this year our Summer parade sponsor chose to offer a bunch of air conditioning appliances because nothing could have made me stay aside from that. I am pretty certain that the other Vendors were happy too, because I stayed long enough to spend more cash at the other booths.
