HVAC inspection checklist

HVAC units need maintenance for them to function well.

It is essential to have an inspection checklist to use during the maintenance process of your unit. An HVAC inspection checklist has both a professional inspection and a homeowner inspection. The professional assessment involves scheduling an air conditioner tune-up with your HVAC contractor. Check your cooling system and its components and fix damages that may have occurred due to wear and tear. You also need to correct any part that may have malfunctioned. AC maintenance helps your system to function better. A better performing AC system is energy efficient. In the air conditioner, a checklist inspection ensures you clean the evaporator and condenser coils. This helps your system to be energy efficient and improve heat transfer. Also, check the blower components and adjust them to effectively deliver proper airflow through the cooling system. Test the refrigerant level in your HVAC system and adjust it so that the system has enough refrigerant to operate efficiently. Inspect the thermostat to make sure that it communicates well with the system. Since the thermostat sends a signal to other HVAC components, including the blower, you have to lubricate all the moving parts in the blower motor to reduce friction. Check the system’s condensate drain to ensure the drain pipes function well. This will prevent water damage due to high humidity. Also, ensure the system is in sync with each other and runs safely. On the other hand, a homeowner inspection checklist requires the homeowner to check the furnace filters every month as they tend to get clogged with dirt. It also involves cleaning your outdoor conditioning unit to remove twigs, leaves, mulch, and other lawn debris.
