Replacing windows to reduce heating and cooling workload

When every one of us first bought our home, it had been neglected for quite some time. The two of us needed to make a lot of updates; One of our biggest problems was the windows. All of the windows were single-paned and not installed tight enough. There was insufficient insulation around them, and they allowed outside air to come in. They also allowed our conditioned air to leak out. The two of us had issues with cold drafts and extravagant heating bills in the winter. In the summer, every one of us dealt with an excessive amount of bugs and super high electric bills. The furnace and a/c struggled to achieve comfort. The two of us had the heating and cooling system took care of out by a local Heating, Ventilation plus A/C business, who told us they were operating at peak capacity. The issue was the amount of air escaping due to the inefficient windows. Our condo is rather large, with twenty-two windows to replace, then some of the windows are quite big, and the project was seriously extravagant. Since every one of us wanted to replace them all at once, it took us a while to save up the currency. At least, every one of us were able to handle the upgrade on our own. The two of us spent extra for thermal-paned, Energy Star rated windows and took care to officially insulate and caulk around them. The difference in the efficiency and comfort of our condo was significant. The two of us spend far less on heating and cooling and love more consistent hot and cold temperatures. I don’t need to vacuum or dust as often because the condo stays much cleaner. I’m hoping that because we’ve reduced energy losses, the furnace and a/c will last longer and operate more reliably.
