Reupholstering can be more extravagant than buying new.

I have always thought that when I got older, I was going to buy an antique sofa and have it reupholstered to look love new, however little did I think how extravagant it would be to have a piece of furniture reupholstered! I bought an seasoned sofa at a sale last year, and I thought I would be having it reupholstered so it would look love new.

I took the sofa to the local reupholstering shop, and asked for a quote on having it redone, but they had to add the cost of modern Springs, wood if anything was broken, stuffing, upholstery material, the tacks that were used to keep the material linked, then every one of us also had the cost of the work and the employees it took to do the work.

This didn’t include picking the sofa up and delivering it back to our house… By the time our hubby and I figured out all of us could purchase a modern sofa that looked seasoned for much cheaper than all of us could have this seasoned sofa reupholstered… As much as I enjoyed the plan of having a tplot antique in our home, I could not afford to have the sofa reupholstered; My hubby and I took the sofa to the upholsterers shop and left it there. I’m not sure if they’ll redo the sofa and resell it, or if they’ll just throw it away! Whatever they decide, the cost of the sofa is out of our hands and into theirs. I’ve already got a modern knock-off sofa that looks just love an antique. I couldn’t be happier if it was the real thing.
