Sanitizing the window A/C unit

I don’t particularly like it when things get stored for long periods of time and start to produce problemsome aromas.

I told my kids that our mop must be hung to dry after it’s used otherwise it will harbor mold spores and dangerous bacteria, thus dirtying the floor when you’re trying to cleanse.

I believe that they understand implicitly why this needs to be finished, but I still can’t get them to remember every single time. The biggest advantage I got was after I made a physical sign to put above the mopping station to remind them when they’re done to hang the mop so the mop head can dry out completely! Then I had the idea of adding an important step to the start of every mopping process—sanitizing the mop head before using it with a single tote of diluted floor cleaner to rinse out and clean it before making a fresh tote for mopping the floor. Others may think these procedures trivial, and I guess that’s a honorableposition to hold on to if you don’t have a sensitive nose nor any respiratory allergies of any sort. Sadly, that’s not applicable to my wifey and I, nor our youngest kid who has recently developed asthma. The people I was with and I needed to wash an ancient window cooling system before using it in the living room because it had an aroma every time the two of us turned it on. Luckily the two of us found a special cleaning spray for cooling units at the store and after many applications, the window a/c was aromaless once more. The aerosol cleaning spray dissolved the mildew and dangerous bacteria that had settled on the evaporator coil from years of utilization and storage.
