Grandfather’s seasoned A/C component was still using R22 refrigerant

Dad was a bit worried about Grandfather living on his own after the funeral.

Grandma had been ill for some time and passed away last Spring.

Dad and mom had been trying to convince Grandfather to come and live with us. But that was proving to be a tall order as Grandfather kept saying that was his home. Finally, mom and dad chose not to push the matter any longer. But, they had to do some toil in the home to ensure his safety. He was still healthy however walking slower with each passing afternoon. Part of the new home improvements was decreasing the carpet, placing a resting section and handles in the lavatory, and repair the air conditioning. Grandfather had been saying the A/C component wasn’t warming the home as it did before. So, on her afternoon off, mom went to the home and contacted an A/C mechanic. The A/C mechanic arrived an hour later, inspected, and concluded it was better to get a new Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C unit. The seasoned aircon component in Grandfather’s home had a low charge and still used R22 refrigerant. There was no way to get R22 refrigerant for the component since it is illegal, so our parents ordered a new Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C unit. This was even much better since R22 refrigerant is known to cause several health complications hence why it’s illegal. The A/C mechanic came back to dismantle the seasoned air conditioning and install a new a single for Grandfather. Both of us spent the weekend with him testing out the heating plan and ensuring he had everything to keep him warm all winter.
