I rented a car when I was on a business trip last week, but the whole car smelled like smoke.
My friends call me The Bloodhound, since I can smell smoke from a mile away.
I couldn’t believe that the rental car agency tried to make me believe that the car I rented had not been smoked in. The entire car reeked of smoke. It was even worse when I turned on the heating or the air conditioning in the car. The smell of smoke just blew around and around throughout the car and it made me feel like I was going to throw up or something. I hate the smell of smoke and when you’re trapped inside a car, the smell is even worse. I tried riding with the windows rolled down, but the weather outside had been cooling off a great deal and the temperatures were very cold. I actually needed to run the heating in the car, but the more I turned the thermostat up, the worse the smell got. I don’t know how people can stand to smoke inside a car anyway. There’s just something about the smell of smoke that makes the indoor air quality in a car feel terrible. It’s almost like you can touch the odor or something! I ended up calling the rental car company and telling them that I was unable to run the heating system in the car because of the smoke odor in the car. They assured me that there had been no smoking in that vehicle, and they didn’t want to give me a new car. I drove to the office and made the employee come and breathe in the smell in the car while the heating was running and then he believed me!
