Indian Rocks Beach is a neat place to visit

There are several fun places to visit in the Tampa area, but one of my favorites is definitely Indian Rocks Beach.

It’s located in the western side of Pinellas county.

Legend states that native Americans in the area headed over to the bach to use the rocks in medicinal and religious ceremonies. The spring circled by rocks was a popular destination for hundreds of years. Settlers believed that the water may have healing powers far greater than western medicine. The tribe medicine men would use the waters from the sulphur springs to heal the sick and elderly. The springs are still the main attraction in the area and the beach has a historical museum located directly by the beach. That museum is filled with ancient artifacts, educational materials, and information on early Florida settlers. Today, Indian rock Springs is home to over 5,000 Florida residents. One of my favorite places to spend the day, is at the nature preserve. There are a ton of native wildlife creatures roaming in the area. There is an educational exhibit at the nature preserve. There are multiple walking trails, a boardwalk overlooking the water, and a park for dogs. The beach is also home to one of the coolest free attractions for kids. It’s a large waterpark fashioned to resemble Key West. The waterpark called Splash Harbour is one place that stays busy all summer. The kids and I love to spend the day playing in the water, when the sun is hot and the outdoor temperatures are warm and humid. I love living near Tampa and the Florida Suncoast.
