We’ve been close ever since we were kids. Every summer, our parents would take us on vacations together. Other times we’d go stay with our grandparents. Since we each didn’t have any siblings, we became each other’s siblings. We went to the same college, but found work on opposite sides of the country. Last year, it was my turn to go and visit him during winter. I was hoping to enjoy some warm weather and not endure months of snow. However, the weather proved surprising because they had the worst winter storm they’ve had in years. The water pipes froze, there wasn’t power for several days, plus my cousin’s furnace broke.
