Good insulation is important.

It is natural for animals to eat differently so they build up a thick layer of fat, and their fur or hair gets thicker and more luxurious.

During the spring, their hair/fur thins out and they have become lean during the winter. This is all a part of natures’ way of insulating for their survival. At one point in history, humans have had some of this ability, but it has changed as we have changed our habits. We now have modern air filtration systems and HVAC units for our homes. This is a great time for modern innovation. No matter how modern your HVAC system may be, it will never be as efficient as it can be if you have poor insulation in your home. Just like those animals, your home needs to have insulation. Insulation not only keeps your heating and air conditioning from exiting your home, but it keeps the heat and cold outside, from entering your home. You need to make sure you have insulation around windows and doors. The walls and roof need to have good insulation. This insulation also needs to be inspected every couple of years. Insulation tends to compress and it loses some of its ability to protect your home. A quick inspection by a building contractor, can tell you if you need to update the insulation, or replace it. The attic is the biggest culprit for escaping heating and air conditioning. Next is the windows and doors. It is easy to lay new insulation to the attic floor, or to put weather stripping around windows and doors. This is something every homeowner should check every year, if they want to save on energy bills and keep their HVAC equipment running efficiently.
