Seniority has its advantages, let me tell you that! I was one of the first people hired on with the supplier, & many years later I am a manager with a work crew all our own. I have a lot of responsibilities, even though I also get a lot of perks thanks to our particular situation, and when I first started, the supplier had big plans, but empty pockets, so I started working for minimum wage, plus a percent of stocks in the supplier, however my guaranteed disadvantage was not that great, but our upside literally had no ceiling to it, so I went for the deal, then now this Heating & A/C supplier is one of the greatest in the city, & our bank account tells me I made the right choice, but since I have more than 2 weird certified Heating & A/C techs that work under me, most weeks I never even have to get our hands dirty! I wish I could say I missed the hard work aspect of Heating & A/C work, even though I find I much appreciate to supervise & make sure everything is up to the high supplier that made our supplier great. I’m no Springtime chicken anymore, so I will leave the heavy lifting to the rookie Heating & A/C techs & let them carry the tools & install all the components. I still wear a hard hat & a tool belt, I still drive a work van, & I still spend most of our time at job sites, even though I leave the hands-on heating & cooling work to the younger guys, and like I said, seniority has advantages!
