A educator in Heating, Ventilation and A/C work

The educator and apprentice relationship is one of the oldest and most important in the history of humanity.

Think back hundreds of years, before any kind of current technology, and in an era when everyone never l earned to read or write for their whole lives, back then, if you wanted to develop a skill or a craft, you had to find someone to teach you, there was no other way! An apprentice might spend years reading from the educator, until one day they were a educator.

That is what I am experiencing now, as I teach my young cousin the basics of Heating, Ventilation and A/C repair. She is undoubtedly happy about reading the Heating, Ventilation and A/C trade, but I had to caution him that the people I was with and I would be going slow and doing it the right way. The two of us started with the basic tools every Heating, Ventilation and A/C tech relies on, my cousin carried the tools, she inventories the tools, she cleaned the tools. She l earned the tools by touch, which is a vital skill for Heating, Ventilation and A/C work because that comes up every single day. After she learns the tools, then the people I was with and I start with basic heating systems and HVAC duct. Modern a/cs are incredibly complex so it’s best to start with the straight-forwardr furnaces. The two of us eage gradually into the work, reading every single step of the process before moving on. It will take years, but eventually she will be an ace Heating, Ventilation and A/C tech with an encyclopedic knowledge of the tech. As a educator, my goal is to turn my apprentice into the type of worker who surpassed me in every way, and then becomes a educator too.
