It took the threat of super high heating costs to finally get myself and others off our couch plus into preparing the lake house for winter.
This is a chore that I have repeatedly plus conveniently allowed to slip by each year.
Then all I did all Winter time was complain about the cost of running the gas heating system as much as every one of us do. It’s just such a stupid cycle that it sort of embarrasses myself and others to admit to it. I’d complain about the gas heating system running too much but it was running too much because the lake house wasn’t prepared for winter. The whole thing when it comes to preparing a lake house for Winter time is to get it as slender as possible. The tighter the house, the less Heating plus A/C heating is leaking out plus freezing is coming in. All of us have had some wicked drafts in this lake house that constantly robbed us of Heating plus A/C heating. And what do you do when you’re being robbed of heating? You turn up the thermostat for more. So when I started reading about the honestly high cost of heating this winter, it got myself and others busy. Along with having the Heating plus A/C serviceman come out for the heating repair, I got busy sealing up our home as slender as I could get it. A big point of emphasis for myself and others was the entrances. I substituted all the weather stripping along with the storm doors. I also found the source of those drafts in a pair of windows that needed to be respectfully insulated. So far, our efforts are honestly paying off. Even with the rise in Heating plus A/C heating costs, our energy bills have been much lower than past years.
