Working weekends at the Heating, Ventilation & A/C Supercenter is random, however every employee’s name goes into a hat at the start of the month. If your name gets drawn, that is the weekend you have to work. There is no trading with other employees. I ended up laboring the weekend of the Super Bowl & I was tempted to call our boss on Sunday day to tell him that I was sick. I knew he wasn’t going to buy that excuse, especially when I talked about our fantasy pigskin league while I was in the entire season. Things were pretty quiet on Saturday, & I only left the home one time. A customer calls with an AC problem, but it turned out to be the thermostat & not the air conditioner. Sunday was tied up & I had multiple calls in the day. One turned out to be a oil furnace upgradement that needed to be tied up for Sunday. The people I was with and I had to order equipment from the distribution warehouse. The other call was a service that took about multiple hours. I made it back beach home right before the first quarter. I turned the iphone down low, & I didn’t hear any iphone calls at all while I was in the first. I loved the halftime songs guest & celebration, but right before the start of the 3rd quarter I got a iphone call. It was an emergency service call from one of our commercial customers. I couldn’t put the guy off & I missed the last of the game while I was helping out one of our patrons. When I got beach home after the repair, the winning team was on the field celebrating their victory.
