When I got a new job, I honestly wasn’t interested in making friends at the place.
I just wanted to work hard and make enough money to afford my bills and put food on the table.
Because I was trying to save money I would always bring my lunch. The thing is, the break room where people ate lunch wasn’t very comfortable. The temperature control settings were terrible and there was something up with the air quality. If that wasn’t terrible enough, there were strange smells in the breakroom. It seemed like they could really use a good air purification system to clear out the smells. Then some people came to sit with me at my table and we got to talking. We had a pretty interesting conversation and I had everybody laughing and I told them how bad it smelled in the breakroom. Everybody had to admit that they usually preferred to go out to lunch in places that had better air quality and better temperature control settings. They said that I should come along with them next time they went out to eat. I figured it couldn’t hurt and so I joined everybody when they went to this nice little cafe. The price of the food was reasonable and I certainly appreciated the excellent temperature control settings. They said it was their favorite place because the owner invested in a quality air purification system and kept up with his HVAC system maintenance. As much as I enjoyed the place, I told everybody I would have to only go out on occasion because I was trying to save money.
