I was afraid of mold growth in my flooring

I usually prefer dogs and have had few complications with them since I was a young child.

  • My family regularly had at least 3 dogs, usually a mix of sizes.

At a single point we had several German Shepherds before one away from old age. I am used to canines of all kinds and usually bond well with them regardless of their temperament. These assumptions all went out the window when my sister got her new dog. The first time I tried to pet him, he bit my hand. He did it with so much force that he broke the skin with his teeth. When she asked me to watch him for an afternoon while she traveled for work, I was reluctant. She said that he had a crate to stay in as long as I fed him twice and let him outside. When I left for an hour to go grocery shopping, I assumed it would be fine to leave him in his crate. These are supposed to restrain animals, at least that has what I assumed. Apparently he managed to loosen the bolts holding the top portion of the crate to the bottom. When I walked in the door, I was greeted by a dog running around and breaking apart my house. He broke my fish tank and all of the water had soaked into the carpet in my home office. I called my sister and told her to come get her dog. Then I called a local carpet cleaning company to get the water out of the floor before it started to get mold. Thankfully the carpet cleaners arrived within an hour of my call and instantly got to work. They used a deodorizing carpet cleaning product that I had never seen before, but it left my carpet smelling like fresh flowers.
