There are a few risks you are taking when you are staying at a rental property.
Being in a climate you aren’t used to, is the first one that comes to mind. Even though you may have perfect HVAC in the new area, it isn’t like home. We are all creatures of habit and what we have at home is almost always the best there is, since you control the HVAC system and the thermostat. The biggest complaints we get about the heating and air conditioning, are from the senior citizens. Many are snowbirds who head north during the summer and return back to the south in the winter. When winter returns, they are suddenly complaining about how hot it is in the south. In the summer, they can’t get used to the air conditioning in the north. The AC isn’t nearly as good in the north as in the south. None of this makes sense to me, but that’s okay. I would think that if people are travelling back and forth to different areas, they should be familiar with HVAC. These people have owned homes and they should know a little bit about heating and air conditioning. They should be able to do the simplest of chores that could make the HVAC system work better. I would think that after all their time on earth, they would have asked at least a couple questions when the HVAC tech showed up. Instead, they choose to call the local HVAC company and complain that the heating or air conditioning is never enough, when it may be nothing more than a battery for a thermostat.
