In life, you get whatever you pay for

When I was a child growing up, my parents used to tell me that you get whatever you pay for.

I always used to think that they were exaggerating and just being overly dramatic like they always were. However, I guess they were definitely right about this one thing! They had always told me and my sister that you get what you pay for, and they were talking about things from refrigerators to air conditioning systems to car mechanics. They weren’t exactly people who were spendthrifts, but they also didn’t mind spending too much on things if they knew that it was going to last. I guess my parents were right after all. I didn’t really realize this up until recently whenever I got my own home. I got my first home a year ago and it’s really changed my life. As a homeowner, I have really begun to understand the whole idea about the fact that you get what you pay for. It’s been especially obvious to me in the realm of the heating and cooling system in the house. I needed to replace the central air conditioning system when we first moved into the house, and I opted to purchase an A/C system that was cheaper than most of the others that I looked at. I knew what I was doing. I knew right when I signed the paperwork that I was trading quality for money, and I could almost hear my parents’ voices echoing in my head. I should have known better than to buy that cheap central air conditioning system. It worked okay for about a month and a half, and then it stopped working all together! I guess you live and you learn!
