For the past 8 years, I have been working for the local heating and air conditioning business. I really enjoy my job, it’s simple and repetitive, which is actually something I really like. Because of this, I have a lot of knowledge in my HVAC field. I was surprised when my cousin called me one afternoon and started asking questions about her heating and air conditioning device. This surprised me, because I didn’t know my cousin very well, and from what I did know of her, she wasn’t exactly the nicest person. She had the attitude that she knew more than you did, no matter who you are. So the fact that she was asking advice was odd to me. Her issue was she wanted a new A/C unit, and she was asking me whether this one type would be okay. The price was cheap, but the model was older, SEER rating wasn’t the best and it was too small for her home to begin with, so I gave her the bad news that it wasn’t a good idea. I took the time to find other models that would be a good fit for her home, even if they were a little more expensive, and showed them to her. She huffed and promptly hung up. I forgot about the issue, until 2 months later when a coworker of mine mentioned my cousin. Apparently she had gone against my recommendations and got the cheap A/C unit anyways, and surprise surprise, she is having a lot of issues. I can’t believe she went against a certified HVAC professional’s advice, and instead bought what she thought was right. This will hopefully be a good lesson for her to listen to the professionals.
Event Celebration in huge yard without having to let people in to use the bathroom
One of my colleagues hosted a wedding for his niece.
- His niece was getting married in the Catholic Church near his house oh, but she wanted a separate reception space.
My colleague has a huge Georgian home with a backyard the size of a park. I can see why she wanted to have her reception there, but in all truthfulness, she was a bit hesitant. Because of that, my colleague agreed to turn his backyard into an oasis that also made use of modular kitchens, special event facility Solutions, and fabulous lighting. They set the band up under a traditional tent, but all the guests were able to use these amazing portable restroom Solutions so that my colleague did not have to have people traipsing in and out of his house. Mission, my colleague had portable kitchens constructed and hired chefs and wait staff to bring all sorts of delicious goodies to the guests. Special event modular Solutions have really come a long way. When I went into the portable restrooms, there was absolutely no indication that they were portable. The mobile restroom Solutions included stahl’s, beautiful sinks and faucets, and they even smelled good. It was like a little building all its own and really lovely. The chef had no complaints about the modular kitchen Solutions either. In fact, I heard one of the cooks talkin about occasionally using portable kitchens in a local Greenway or downtown park as a way to promote his services.The mobile event Solutions I was able to see at this wedding really had me in all. I was almost thinking I should go into the special event modular Solutions business! I’m sure it was not inexpensive for my colleague to get those portable Solutions for his niece’s wedding.
My husband asked me what kind of furniture I was looking for.
For our thirtieth anniversary, my husband and I decided we were going to buy new furniture for our home.
When we went housekeeping, we were already expecting our first child.
We couldn’t afford good furniture and we ended up with a lot of hand me downs and second hand store furniture. Thirty years later, we were going to get rid of the old furniture and treat ourselves to something new. He asked me what kind of furniture I wanted to look for. I smiled and told him I wanted something that would show who we were. He gave me a hug, looked in my eyes and said we should be looking for Classic Elegance. We started shopping over the next couple weekends. We found a beautiful French-style oak dining table. It wasn’t original, but it was beautiful. She showed us the matching chairs, but I didn’t like them. As long as we could reasonably match the wood, I was going to be happy. We went walking through the furniture store, and ignored the salesperson. I saw some chairs in a far corner. They were mismatched, but all the same color and they were definitely Classic Elegance. He agreed with my decision, since we said we wanted natural wood furniture in the dining room. When the salesperson finally caught up with us, I asked him about the wood dining chairs. He noted they were mismatched and said I wouldn’t want them. I counted six chairs and I said I wanted the wood dining chairs, and if he could rustle up two more, I would be obliged. He looked down his nose at us, but flashed a grin when my husband pulled out his diamond visa.
A family-owned silk screening business now has a digital printer for tagless t-shirts
I feel fortunate that my city wasn’t hit harder by the 2008 economic recession.
We have always been a rich community filled with local businesses run by families and their descendents.
We’re one of the few places in the country that refuses to grant a business license to Walmart within the city limits. You may feel one way or another about that decision, but it goes to show that most residents here would prefer to shop at family-owned businesses opposed to ruthless corporations if given the chance. Not to mention some of our multi-generational companies make up the best the city has to offer for restaurants, stores, and professional services. Whenever I want to make custom t-shirts or clothing, I visit this family-owned silk screening business that has been in the same downtown location since my parents were little kids. This silk screening business is a staple of our community. Some of their machines and equipment go back decades before modern printing technology was available. When they create shirts like they did before, everything is done by hand. But this silk screening company is also looking toward the future as well. They recently purchased a digital printer that can create tagless t-shirts. This offers them more flexibility when a client brings them a design for a t-shirt via a jpeg or PDF file. Then they can use the digital printer to put the custom design onto the tagless t-shirts. I found out that all of the t-shirts sold by the local high school are made by this silk screening business with their new digital t-shirt printer.
Sad to see reputable HVAC business close
At the end of my HVAC tune up appointment, as the A/C technician was giving me the bill, he told me that the HVAC business is closing, so they are having a deal on some of their products.
I was incredibly saddened to hear that they were closing.
This particular HVAC corporation had been in my area for 20 years and was known for being fast and efficient. I have used their services multiple times and I can attest that they are a really great business. Hearing they were closing was really saddening because the only other heating and cooling business around here had less than stellar reviews and ratings. I went ahead and bought a few of the things they had on sale, which was a box of air filters and an air purifier. A few days later passed, and as I was driving home from work, I stopped by the air conditioning business and saw a sign on their door. It said that they were closing to move to a new location in some other city. I searched up the city and it was an hour away from me, so there was no way I could continue getting HVAC service from them, unless I started ordering products online. But even then, I couldn’t get repair or maintenance service like I do now. I’m glad I was able to get service from them one last time, and my air conditioning and furnace will be set for the rest of the year. I guess after that I will have to start relying on the other A/C business.
A/C professional was extremely late
I really don’t like it when things don’t go according to plan, and unfortunately for me, that happens more often than not.
It’s why I often have a plan B and plan C, just in case.
A great example was last week. I had scheduled a HVAC installation appointment. I bought a new air conditioning system from the HVAC corporation down the road and had it delivered and everything. The new heating and cooling component had to sit for a few days, because the HVAC business was booked. Finally, my appointment came and the HVAC tech was supposed to arrive at 5:00. 5:00 came and went, and no sign of the HVAC worker. I texted him, and an hour later he responded saying he was late, but he would probably make it by 7:00. That time came and went, and still no HVAC specialist. I figured by then it was their closing time and the A/C worker would have gone home. So I went out with my friends to have a few drinks at the bar, when at 8:00, I got a text from him saying he arrived at my house. I was surprised that he was still working, and so I called my teenage son to let him in. I arrived home 20 minutes later, and was able to supervise the rest of the air conditioner installation from there. Once everything was installed and he left, I was glad to have my cooling device finally working, but I wish he could have arrived earlier, because my night out with my friends was ruined.

I dislike change in my environment, so when my wife bought a new thermostat, a smart thermostat to be exact, I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like it. Luckily for my wife, she didn’t need to be a HVAC worker to install the new thermostat, and she had it up within 20 minutes. She had fun playing with the different features and learning how to program it. Once she was done, I took a look at it myself. It didn’t look too bad, but a bit complicated. It was also a touch screen which is nice, but for me, the nice features ended there. Because not long after that, I would realize how much I dislike this new thermostat. It happened when I was trying to turn on the furnace. The morning was unusually cold and I was fiddling with the new thermostat to turn on the heat because I was shivering. I kept tapping on the screen but nothing was happening, I was growing frustrated, and my wife noticed my struggle. She showed me that to turn the temperature up and down, you just rotate the thermostat. I was still annoyed, but at least the heater turned on and started warming the home. That wasn’t the only time I was annoyed with the new thermostat, another time was when it refused to turn off the HVAC device, and my wife informed me it was not turning off because she had it programmed to run at this time. I really don’t like this new thermostat, I know my wife does, but I miss the old dial thermostat, it was so much simpler.
My husband was angry I got the wrong type of filter

When it comes to chores, neither I nor my husband want to do them. We both work full time jobs with long hours, and so when we come home, none of us want to be the one cleaning up the home. So we had to divide up certain chores for each other to do and split all chores in half that way we both do an equal amount of work. I handle most of the cleaning and electronics, since I am good at cleaning and good at technology. My husband handles almost all of the repairs around the home, as well as maintaining the HVAC machine. I let him handle all of the heating and cooling technology, because I know almost nothing about HVAC equipment. Luckily this kind of stuff is easy for my husband, so he didn’t mind. However, there was one night when the air conditioning unit needed a new filter change and my husband couldn’t go out since he was cooking tonight’s dinner. He told me to buy a new air filter from the HVAC business from the road. I wasn’t doing anything at the time so I didn’t mind. I rushed over to the HVAC company and looked at their selection. Wow, their HVAC filter selection is much bigger than I imagined. The entire HVAC store was much bigger than I originally thought, it actually took me a bit to find where they kept the filters. I looked at the big selection and grabbed a random one and brought it home. When my husband saw it, he became angry and told me it was the wrong kind of air filter. Apparently I bought one of the cheap kinds, and I was supposed to get a HEPA filter. Well how was I supposed to know? He never told me.
I was almost home when I remembered
It was another late night drive.
I suffer from insomnia, and instead of spending hours tossing and turning in my bed, restless, I usually will get up for a long night drive.
Something about the vacant roads and night skies I find soothing, and usually afterwards, it’s enough to make me fall asleep. Sometimes I just drive around to different places, other times I actually go around and shop at places that remain open for 24 hours. This was one of the nights where I was buying things. I was hungry in the middle of the night, so I decided to buy food at a nearby fast food place. Once I was done driving for a few hours, I started heading home. I was almost home when I remembered, I was supposed to pick up new HVAC filters earlier in the day. This would be the 3rd time I forgot about the HEPA filters. I was so angry at myself for forgetting once again. I looked at the clock. It was 6:00 am, and the HVAC store opened at 7:00. I decided to drive there, since by the time I reached my destination it would be close to the time that they open. I was able to get the much needed air conditioning filters and be on my way. Once I made it home, I made sure to change out the HVAC filter, before heading to bed. I was so tired from all that happened I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.
My car A/C needed new refrigerant
I was glad to see the actual cooling device is working, because that means it isn’t actually broken, it likely needs a refrigerant refill.
I got my car several years ago from another person. The guy was selling the car as used, but it only had 50k miles on it, which was pretty good for a used car. I bought the car, and now years later, I have added another 50k miles on it. Due to the car getting a bit older, some minor issues are beginning to appear. A headlight went out last month and now I have noticed the cooling unit doesn’t seem to be doing its job. The air conditioning system in the car is still blowing out air, but the air is just as warm as the rest of the car. Thankfully, I don’t have any long drives or places I need to be that warrant air conditioning, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want the luxury of having HVAC in my car. In fact, I would consider a HVAC system in the car to be one of the most important aspects, apart from safety. I was glad to see the actual cooling device is working, because that means it isn’t actually broken, it likely needs a refrigerant refill. So the next day I went to have the HVAC device repaired, and I was right, all the heating and cooling device needed was a new refrigerant. Once it was filled up, out of the A/C vents came ice cold air. Now that I had that fixed, I didn’t have to worry about the summer months coming. Both my central A/C in my home and my car’s air conditioning are working as they should.
